Why Christianity?
REDUCING LONELINESS by increasing friendliness...

Why does BE SOCIABLE (besociable.org) engage with Christianity?
Not one of us is an island when it comes to survival. We all need support from one another as well as our self centred instincts.
This dilemma was well understood by Jesus Christ the founder of Christianity who continues to challenge his followers to LOVE GOD and to LOVE OTHERS AS MUCH AS OURSELVES.
Being more community minded and less self centred is not always instinctive that is precisely why there continues to be a critical role for Christianity across the world. Without the Christian challenge to be more community minded we simply gravitate towards our self centred instinct that on its own is not good for us in the longer term. Many would agree that the increasing prevalence of things like loneliness is directly related to how much we have all turned away from community.
The challenge for Christianity today as always is to challenge people to turn back to being more community minded. The founder of the BE SOCIABLE initiative is a Christian himself and is convinced that turning people back towards community is the way to tackle the ever increasing prevalence of things like social isolation and loneliness.
Please find a local community minded church to join and support if like our founder you are ready to start building stronger and more resilient communities. Strong communities need us all to engage (both you and me).

PS: With its community focus, Christianity has been closely engaged in delivering many valuable community services (education, health and care, food banks etc.). With its community focus, Christianity is also well placed to help rebuild community and REDUCE LONELINESS.
